Why your TikTok content isn’t going viral

Let’s face it—there’s no failproof strategy for going viral on TikTok. If there was, EVERYONE would be doing it—and EVERY video out there would have 1 million + views. 📈

However, there is more strategy than you might think behind getting your product in front of as many viewers as possible.

Here are four reasons why your product isn’t going viral on TikTok—and what you can do about it.

  1. Your video quality is low. First and foremost, if your video quality is low, people will think your product quality is low. (I know, it doesn’t make sense—but it’s one of the first rules of marketing!) You could have the best product ever, but if your videos are grainy, dark, or poorly edited, they aren’t going to go viral. I promise. 🤫

  2. You’re not showing how real people can use your product. You can film hours worth of your products sitting on pretty shelves or being unboxed, but if you’re not showing how real people can use them, you’re making a mistake! Try videos like “Three uses for X” or “How I use X in a day” in order to garner interest and engagement.

  3. You’re not making behind-the-scenes connections with your audience. TikTok is all about authenticity—so take advantage of that and let your audience see the behind-the-scenes moments of your business. Show how your product is made, how you package it to ship, etc… A popular candy company makes nearly all of its videos packaging real orders for customers and tagging those customers so they can see the process!

  4. You’re not using hashtags the right way. Using overly-generic hashtags like #fyp, #viral, or #makemefamous aren’t going to get your content on someone’s “for you” page, help it go viral, or make you famous. ❌ Instead, use niche-specific hashtags that will get your content in front of those who will engage with and share it. You only have 250 characters, so be picky and intentional!

If you are struggling to make your TikTok content go viral, address these four issues first. Remember, virality starts with just a few shares—so focus on making quality content that gets seen by your target audience first!
