Strategies for Using TikTok Stories

What are TikTok Stories?

TikTok Stories are short, shareable videos that can be viewed for 24 hours after they're posted. Think of them as the same as Instagram stories. You can use TikTok Stories to show off your creative side, connect with other users, and build your following on the app.

So far, we haven't seen any indication of how long your TikTok story should be the most engaging. However, as with all videos, you want to make sure you're getting to the point and providing value right away.

There are a few differences between how TikTok and Instagram are approaching stories. Unlike Instagram, TikTok does not allow you to have "highlights" or a permanent home for your stories. Once a story is no longer available, it's gone forever. It also doesn't currently let you include a link in your stories.

Also, unlike Instagram, you can only post one story per day. This means that you need to make your story count! Here are some tips and ideas for using TikTok Stories.

Mistakes to Avoid When Posting TikTok Stories

There are a few things you should avoid when posting TikTok Stories.

Don't Be Inconsistent

The algorithm loves consistency. So don't post every day for 4 days and then disappear for weeks.

Keep Your Content Balanced

Balance your stories between personal content and strategic content. What does that mean? You want a mix of content that gives your followers a behind-the-scenes look at your life and content that helps you achieve your business goals. I recommend a split of 70% business-related content and 30% personal content.

Use TikTok Stories

You might think that stories aren't worth the effort - after all, they're only seen for 24 hours!

That would be a mistake and here's why: TikTok stories are still relatively new. That means that there's less competition in stories than there is in the feed. And TikTok likes to push out content that uses new features so they can get a good sense of how it is working.

My Framework for Compelling TikTok Stories

Here's a framework you can use to make sure your TikTok stories are compelling:

1. Start with a hook

2. Follow up with two key points

3. Include a call-to action

For example, I could do a story on stories:

Here are 2 mistakes that you're making on TikTok stories. Number one, you're being inconsistent about posting stories, and number two, you're not keeping a balance between personal and business-related content. Follow me to learn what you SHOULD be doing in your TikTok stories.

Easy, am I right?

Recycling Old Content

You may wonder, can I use old content for my TikTok stories?

The answer is yes! You can absolutely use old content. In fact, I recommend it.

Why? Because it's a great way to repurpose content and get more mileage out of it. And we all know that creating new content can be time-consuming. Also, your audience is always growing. They may not have seen that content when you first released it.

Making the Most of All of TikTok's features

TikTok is one of the best tools you can have for your business. It can help you build a following, generate leads, and make sales.

But to really make the most of TikTok, you need to use all of its features - including stories. To find out more about how to use TikTok to grow your business, book a call today. I would love to talk more about your business.
